We understand that you, as a pet owner and home owner, are putting your trust in us to care for your fur child and your property, which is why the team at In The Doghouse always strives to be professional, responsible, and communicative. We know we will never be as good as “mom and dad” but that doesn’t stop us from trying our best to put your pet at ease with lots of love, cuddles, and fun. While you are away on vacation, work, or play, you can rest easy knowing you will receive text and photos updates of your pet from our team of bonded and insured sitters. Of course, a meeting is always set up prior to the stay in order to ensure that you and your pet are comfortable with your sitter.

Meet Our Team

Regina Palamar, Founder

Regina started her pet sitting business at the age of 11 and hasn’t looked back since. Her passion for pets has led her to work at a veterinary clinic, an independently-owned pet store, a doggy daycare, and a grooming salon. Inspired by the local entrepreneurs of Ottawa and her love of four-legged friends, Regina opened up In The Doghouse in September 2015 with the goal of building a dynamic and caring team of pet care providers within an already fantastic community of pet lovers. Like most animal lovers, Regina doesn’t take herself too seriously but understands that hard work, communication, and passion are the key ingredients for success in any field of life. Aside from all things pet-related, Regina likes large cups of coffee and a good book. Fun fact: she dislikes carbonated drinks.

Kathryn, Assistant Manager

Kathryn might just be one of the hardest working people we know, which is why you can trust that she will work hard to take excellent care of your pet. With years of experience in the pet care and veterinary industry, Kathryn is a wonderful pet care provider. Kathryn is our Assistant Manager in charge of social media and events, as well as pet sitter extraordinaire. She services the downtown area, as well as Alta Vista and Rideau Heights and also specializes in providing care for pets who might need more attention than others, including those who are geriatric or with medical or behavioural issues. Fun Fact: Kathryn likes dinosaurs and knitting, and she dislikes long software updates.

Annie, Assistant Manager

Annie is our Assistant Manager in charge of Operations and oh boy, are we happy to have her on the team. Beyond doing a fantastic job of ensuring everything behind the scenes is running smoothly, Annie also provides care to the cat and dog residents of Westboro and Centretown. Annie loves cooking and crafts, but she admits that she isn’t the biggest fan of high maintenance house plants.

Alex, Team Member

If you have a cat who needs care, and live in Hintonburg or Westboro, then Alex is your gal! Alex has shown time and time again that patience is a virtue, as she has nurtured friendships with even the scarediest of scaredy cats. Alex loves hoola hooping and lemon loaf, and is not a fan of squeaking noises.

Keisha, Team Member

Keisha is a lover of all fur babies, be they big or small, long or short, canine or feline. Her easy-going energy and eye for detail are appreciated not only by the In The Doghouse team, but by the pets and clients for whom she provides care. Keisha provides care in a variety of neighbourhoods all across Ottawa. She is interested in well-being and fitness and one of her favourite pastimes is to play soccer. She isn’t a fan of insects, especially spiders.

Sam, Team Member

Sam’s confidence and positivity guarantees your dog or cat will gravitate towards her. Her love for big dogs also makes her a great match for those whose pets might be on the larger end of the size spectrum. Sam provides care in the Centretown and downtown neighbourhoods, as well as boards dogs in her own home. She likes to spend her spare time hiking, baking and doing yoga, but stays away from laziness and Toronto Maple Leaf fans.

Cael, Team Member

Cael is an accomplished cat whisperer and has been known to become BFFs with even the sassiest of cats. That said, her gentle spirit and talent with cats also extends to animals of the canine variety. Cael provides care in Orleans, Centretown, Sandy Hill, the Glebe and Old Ottawa South. She feels very positively about strong tea and long books but isn’t too keen on strangers who pet her pets without asking first (pet etiquette is a must!).

Anne, Team Member

Giddy-up, Anne is our resident horse expert! She is also a gifted and caring pet care professional who provides pet sitting and house sitting services to Ottawa’s West End, as well as dog walking in Barrhaven, Centrepoint and City View. Anne absolutely loves horses (obvi!) and left turn signals. Fun fact: Anne dislikes weak coffee.

Emily, Team Member

Emily is the proud fur mom of two fur babies- her Australian Shepherd, Rudy, and her cat Lucy- so she comes to the team with a wealth of pet care knowledge and experience. You can catch Emily providing quality care to the dogs and cats of Stittsville, Kanata and Nepean, as well as welcoming a select few dogs into her own home. Emily loves macaroni and cheese, training at the gym, a good red wine, and long walks with Ru (on the beach or not). She mildly dislikes raisins and pastries that disguise raisins as chocolate chips

YOU, New Team Member

Are you a self-professed pet lover who doesn’t have any pets of your own? In The Doghouse is growing and we are always looking for new team members to add to our already fun and dynamic crew. The ideal candidate owns their own vehicle (although this isn’t 100% necessary), is comfortable living in other parts of the city for long stretches of time, and/or is happy to host a furry friend in their own home. General pet know-how and excellent people skills are a must! In The Doghouse is also always looking for candidates interested in boarding (hosting) dogs in their own home.
